pink pac man... now i know the fat finger thing... nice!!! love the story... but you mean the faster one... is that the tamiya rs 540... the silver or gray can?..
no the mini ..cannot take a mod motor .. it can't even run a 27t motor without stripping it's gears ...
stick with a rs540 motor .... thats was it's only intended motor ..

the 18500 rpm ...is it's max rpm at 7.2volts ...
a p2k2 should b able to do close to 30000 rpm at 7.2 volts ...
so u can't compare it .... plus p2k2 ..way more torque ...lol

the faster 1 is the rs 540 chrome can[tamiya] not the gray 1........it also lasts longer and is more tolerant to higher gearing

540 motor dismanteling
:you can have a go at it with a pair of pliers [so its kinda still useable
r you can do what i did and [when its stuffed and doesnt work anymore] go out side where the ground is nice and hard and pag the motor as hard as you can at the ground the pick up what you want and run before any1 comes and tells you to clean up

the p2k2 has more torque than a monster pro
an the monster pro is suppose to have higher rpm's

but if u look carefully on the printed dyno sheet
teh p2k2 has more power than the Monster an it's rpm is about 18000 rpm at 5.0v where most monster are at about 19000 to 22000 rpm's at 5.0v

but the monster has a easier an more usable power band
while the p2k2 has a smaller band an thus without proper gearing wil never work as good as a monster

i recommend trying both ...
some ppl love the p2k2 some don't i prefer the tuned monsters by others brands .. such as Fukuyama's Mako.

are u racing on a big track ?? if so i beleive the monster would b better suited due to it's powerband.
on a smaller track a p2k2 with the correct gearing is fast ..
test it out if u do get a p2k2 ...try different pinions an spurs an feel out how the power comes on an off

but with torque motors i like the team orion core stock ..!!

Have a look at this -

http://frontlinehobbiescomau.ozstagi...name&group=All

Tamiya Motor RS540 - $19.95 Aussie? That's REALLY cheap. The pic looks like a standard motor. I have emailed them about it and hopefully i will get a reply and let you know.

Only wondering since my LHS is selling them for $49.95 lol

we are talkin about the sports tuned RS540 !!

difference is rpms !! sports tuned is just a performance version !!
its black so u always can tell the difference to the standard silver 540 can motor

that's too much !! we get it @$35aus ...at my LHS ...!!

ouch 49.95 is too much .... !! that the price of a good monster !!

yep $49.95. Same box and everthing. I would like to get one of these to have a play with. I have a Epic. sports tuned. It's good. I would just like to see the difference in the engines.

What gearing are you running in yours FliyGT?

I think that I have mine geared to high (TB02)

well i don't actually race the motor ...
i've raced it in a Tamiya mini(which i don;t own)

gearing for it would b very similiar to a 540 motor
so a good 35 to 40mm rollout !!
depends on track ...
most pll only use the black rs540 in Tamiya F1, mini's an stock class for TCS ....so usually gearing it limited to what the biggest pinion the car can take !!
