Default I'm New to brushless motors, help

I just bought a couple of cars this past week. I picked up a SC10 and a TC3. I need to replace the brushed motors and ESC's. I will be racing in a beginner class so I need decently priced stuff.
For the SC10 I was looking at these two:
Teamlosi B9575 1/10 Xcelorin 6400Kv Brushless Combo or ASC939 Associated XP SC450-BL ESC/540R 6100kV Combo.
I have no idea what to get for the TC3!!
Chime in with suggestions please!

I don't know how much it will cost for those options but have you looked at the EZrun series on Ebay?

Many members on this forum run them with great success and a 1/10 scale system for on or off road can be had for ~$50-60

Suggest you check it out.

I would say the 6400Kv motor is to fast for the SC10 but I'm not sure what pinion/spur you'll be using. You are going to have to gear very low to get a reasonable speed if you're new to R/C. My gut says you probably want something closer to the 4000Kv range.

Here's the "Official" thread for that truck so you can start trolling it and getting an idea of what you need moving forward.

Sorry I don't know anything about the TC3

I'm not new to RC racing, just RC racing this millennium! I used to race Modified Oval pan cars in the 90's. going left AND right will take me a few races to get used to it.

Can't say about the TC3, but for the SC10 you might want to try the Castle Sidewinder SCT combo with the 3800kv motor. This combo works great in my Losi XXX-SCB. Be sure if you get any brand of brushless system you set the gear mesh between spur and pinion properly on the SC10. I stipped my first one really quickly when I installed the Castle system. Worked really well on loose dirt, then I ran it on a high traction surface and it stripped right away.

If you plan to race the tc3, find out what classes they run at the local track(s) before you buy an ESC and motor. Unless you plan to race Mod, sensorless systems like the ez-run and castle sidewinder suggested above would not be legal and they wouldn't be competitive in Mod either.
