Questions?? TOP Racing Sabre diff question

Have a problem (i think) with the differential. Built it as per
manual, tightened it up and backed it off 90deg. When car is running
it sounds like the diff is not locking enough, and emits a high
pitched "whinning" sort of noise.
Ran one battery through it.

Removed the diff, checked the ball bearings, all appears okay, checked
the diff ring and it appears that there is a small groove appearing
allready.

Reassembled diff, loosened it off some more, and car take off is
terrible. Retightened the diff screw all the way, and it still makes
the same noise.

It sounds like the diff isn't tightened enough, and it is spooling up
when given more than half throttle, and it takes a while foe the diff
to "catch up"

Any ideas or sugestions?

There's a thread about properly breaking in a ball diff stickied in the Electric Off-Road forum. I'd link it, but I can't.

I suspect 90 was too much and it may have damaged something. Apparently instructions with most kits are not very good on this particular task.

Thanks for the reply Eric

read that thread before building the diff, and the instructions where good (better than what i have heard)
When the diff was built 3 days ago, i couldnt tighten it up and lock it, i honestly thought that was normal for a fwd car (as this is my first)
but now im not to sure. Have replaced the thrust bearing as well, and still happens

What type of Diff balls are you using???

Sometimes Ceramic diff balls can cause the diff to slip even if it's tightened down all the way...

You could also take it to your local track and see if someone will help you...
