First vehicle recommendations?

First vehicle recommendations?
Hi all,
I am getting out of keeping saltwater fish tanks for a bit, and I thought I would augment my hobby ADD with an RC vehicle. I already do planes, but rc cars are so much easier to do without having to go to a flying field.
I'm looking at the Team Associated RC10T4.1 brushless RTR. It seems that for ready to run, this little kit may be hard to beat. However, I'm definitely not afraid of putting a kit together if it will mean better quality components (especially the radio... I've got a nice Futaba for my planes), but I still think the RC10T4.1 brushless will be hard to beat.
Anyone have any comments or suggestions on this or other vehicles?
Ultimately I'm looking for something to play around with and maybe try to determine a direction if I'm going to stick with it, or just enjoy what it is.
Thanks,
Brandon

You really can't go wrong with any of the Associated brushless RTR's IMO. The value is certainly there.
The only comment I would have is that if you think you're ever going to want to race it in an organized competition at a track, be aware that the T4.1 is what is called a "stadium truck" and while there are regional exceptions to the rule, in many areas, that class is hard to find. On the other hand, the SC10 RS RTR is for the short course class which is usually offered at everything from small indoor tracks to large outdoor gas-oriented ones.

Short Course is another good option...... AE makes a pretty good one to. Not sure if your planning on ever getting into racing, but the staduim trucks are hurting at alot of tracks.... SC has taken over. but you cant go wrong.... T4

T4.1
I had a T4.1 and really liked it. It was fun to drive and parts were both easy to find and many were interchngable between my T4.1 and my SC10.
As much as I liked my T4.1, I ended up selling it, because of the reasons stated above. No racing around here for stadium trucks. (If you are just starting out, you can probably race it for a while in a Sportsman class, but that gets pretty boring pretty quickly.)
Probably the best choice would be a short course truck and the SC10 isn't a bad pick.

Many, many thanks for the replies, guys.
I don't currently have any plans of racing, but I have no doubt it wouldn't take long after getting my vehicle before I did. On top of that, supposedly someone is building a really nice track here in Nashville. I appreciate the insight.
What about the RC10B? I've heard they're a bit harder to drive for n00bs such as myself. Are they the same as the RC10T as far as having a hardtime finding somewhere to race?
The radio included with the Associated team kits bugs me... I'm used to computer radios... haha! I may have to upgrade that or maybe look for a used car instead.

What are you looking for? To go and race or to go and bash?
I have a t4.1 just setting on a shelf collecting dust.
To bash for a beginner (or any one) I would get a Traxxas Stampede 4x4 (I would buy one off e-bay) With all the hop-ups
Just me 2cents

Thanks for the reply.
To be honest, I don't know what my end goal will be. To be honest, though, I feel fairly confident I will likely want to race. My immediate goal is to get my feet wet.

A great starter in electric is the ae sc10.Its ideal for bashing or will lead you to the top in the races. The car is durabable and has very little to maintain. If you going to do nitro go with Hot bodies they are affordable

As well, if you're not totally 100% committed to the idea of racing though, the SC truck will be much, much better to bash around a yard with.

Awesome... short course truck it is.
Thanks for all of the awesome advice, guys.
I've had an affinity for all things RC as long as I can remember. I'm glad I can at least use the same chargers between my planes and vehicles.

Hey Brandon, just came across this on here. If you want to some time I can let you test drive a Traxxas Slash and even my Losi 8ight 2.0. You should come out to the track in Columbia some time and see some of the different types of cars.

I might just have to take you up on that sometime, Mike. We can get some flying in, too. I actually had a dream last night that I bought a huge 4x4 nitro truck... LOL... it was kind of strange. You should take the motor out of your 700E and stick in the Slash.

Just get you a sc truck and make sure it has a gear diff. The t4 will have a ball diff and they can get aggrivating at times. Gear diff have less maintenance but take longer to adjust. (oil change etc)

I was thinking of heading out there this afternoon but it started raining again. Seems like every weekend it does that lately.
I think that motor would be a little much for a slash. The 12 cell lipo that runs it might be enough weight to keep it on the ground though.
