Default 1/8 Buggy Question

Do the 1/8 scale cars need 2 receivers? I'm browsing around and it seems there is one for throttle and one for steering. Is that true? If so, why?

Servos*

Nitro 8th scale vehicles need one for throttle, and one for steering.

My mistake, ur right. Does that only apply to nitro? I was looking at the Mugen Eco; since it's electric, would I still need 2 servo's on that?

Electric R/C's typically just have ONE servo (which controls steering). The forward/reverse/brake action is all controlled by the ESC (electronic speed control).

Some larger electric R/C's may have 2 or more servo's... For example. The Losi XXL runs dual steering servo's and another servo for forward/reverse selection. So in that case, an electric would have 3 servo's and an ESC.

More often than not, electric R/C's just have one servo for steering though.

Yes 2 required for nitro only, on most electric buggies the brakes are controlled by the esc.

Ah. Ok. Thanks for the explanation. Whew. I was budgeting and was going to drop the 1/8 scale because of the extra servo cost. thanks!

If you're unsure of the specs on a certain vehicle, just download the user-manual from the supplier's website. You'll be able to learn the "ins and outs" of the vehicle directly from the manufacturer that way.

I'm no Mugen pro, so I don't want to tell you how many servo's it requires... I can assume only one for steering, and then your ESC.

Good idea. I'll do that and see what I can find.
