Default What do you use the 3rd Channel for?

I am getting into 1/8 nitro buggies. I bought a DX3S and was wondering what people use the 3rd channel for? It seems that most surface radios are 3 channels...so anyone use all three?

3rd channel is also used for reverse in vehicles that have reverse.

My Losi XXL for example comes with a reversible transmission. There's an additional servo mounted in the chassis to activate the reverse function.

Some use it for mechanical brakes on a 1/8 scale electric conversion.

Some monster trucks have rear steering, can do crab steering and such.

Some large scale stuff has separate front & rear brakes. Can adjust front/rear bias on the fly.

I think I've heard someone say they used it to adjust fuel mixture on a large scale, but not sure on that one.

typically nothing. but it can be used for scale lighting, radio glitch buster or an additional battery pack.

Some 2 speed trannys use ch3 to shift. gives you more control than the auto-shifting trannys...

im also hearing about devices to keep voltage in check for high power servos. this idea is new to me and may explain why a good servo i had didnt work right. there is a thread on it. check it out.

tekno e conversions offer the use of mechanical breaks for 1/8 buggies, that would require a servo used for channel 3.

I use the 3rd channel as a slave to the 2nd channel on my 1/5th scale cars. Then i will be able to adjust the brake ratio between the front and rear without doing any mechanical on the brakes.
