A good starting point..
For those who want to know where a good entry point into RC can be, I'd have to say Off Road 1/10 EP 2WD. We also race onroad Nitro and EP TC's and the cost difference is enormous.
We bought a Losi XX CR, very affordable chassis and resilient. It only needs one servo, a moderate Speedy control and Brushless motor. All of which you can get in the 4Sale forums for a bargain.
I recommend a 10.5 turn brushless motor and a good lipo battery. Yes I know this is above the hobby spec but the thrills and satisfaction fit the return of investment. To date, we havent broken anything. The buggy is awesome to drive and for those wanting to go FAST.. it's fast enough to get air and lots of it.
Here's a video that might justify why.

On track are some Team Associated B4's, Losi XXX CR's and a coupleof truggies as well.
