Default Fail safe?

I jus searched through the old treads for "fail safe". Lots of info about who makes what, but no one exactly says what it does. Can someone shed some light. Thanks!

A failsafe is installed usually on a gas car on the throttle circuit, between the servo and the reciever. If signal is lost or battery power is low, the failsafe moves the servo to a preset position, generally brake. These things are a very good thing to have, since they save you a huge repair bill, or doctor bills from the person your car could hit.

Would it also cut the throttle or goto the brake position if someone else on the same channel as me turned on their remote?

Yes, any disruption of the signal will trip the failsafe.

Default mechanical failsafe

other than a throttle return spring, what will serve as a good failsafe for the carb? will a rubber band do? or is a correctly sized o-ring better? i didnt install the included spring in my engine becase it seems to be too stiff, the throttle servo is straining to open the carb. thanks for any info

Rubber will break down over time, and break, losing your return tension. Try relocating the mount point to shorten the spring, or get a different spring, they're cheap. I have a Losi spring on my Maxx, and it works fine.
