Default A123 CELLS = NiMh cells?

Hi would like to find out about A123 cells

as far as i know A123 cells are LiFe cells and nominal voltage for these cells are 3.3V...

Was told by someone, crawler guys refer to A123 cells as NiMh cells (the version smaller then the standard sub C cells) .. is that true?

Did a search on Google and all that pops up are LiFe cells... am i getting the wrong info ?????

Confused

I've not heard or read that, but I don't have a lot of contact with crawlers. a123s are diff enough, don't see how anyone could call them NiMH - they have to be balanced and they charge with the same CC/CV charging protocol that lipo uses. To me, they would be more like lipo.....

Doesn't sound like NiMHs to me....

Colin,

They are They are the smaller size cells (A123) the ones you would use in a TC car are larger in size and will not fit on the axles... I charged those at 1.5amps I can't remember how long it took to charge maybe 30mins, but heck I would run a full day with that one pack..!

Hi Will
Not to complicate things but I had the impression that the rig came with A123 LiFe cells not NiMh cells the price difference are a good $50... Will be back in Singapore tomolo... Will check with the post office when I get back with regards to the package

Colin,

No, I am sorry I have never used lipos. What is seen in the pictures is all I have used minus the various chassis' that I have tried out with the AX10. I just know them as A123 cells thats what all the crawler guys would call them. I have never even used lipos. Like I said charge these at 1.5amps and they will last a very long time. Run times are incredibly long plus the added weight is really needed up front. Sorry for any confusion Colin.

Am i getting smoked!!!!

No, reading that response, I just think you got confused somewhere along the way. a123s are better than NiMh so teh crawler with a123s is a better deal anyway.

The only thing I can think - these new smaller a123s are about the same size as a sub c NiMh cell.....maybe someone said something about the sizes?

If thats the deal, you did get shorted. The a123s would've been better.
