Default New and curious about SLASH motors?

I will admit i'm new to this, i'm looking into getting a brushless setup for my slash. My cousin has a velineoin system so I was going to go with it, but i'm just curious about what other options are available out there besides just the velineon system. What motor and esc can I use on my slash. trying to save a few $$ on the velineon and can still get the same thing or better.

any help would be greatful

any 1/10 brushless system should work, others might not screw down to where the stock speed contol sits but you can put it on ether side of the battery.

I converted my Slash to bl with a Castle SIdewinder/5700 setup. That was a little too much motor and gave me way too much wheelspin. The 4600 would have been a better choice.

The Castle motors seem to run hot and what I've seen touted as the best of all worlds is a Castel esc, either the Sidewinder or the MM and a velineon 3500 motor. That's supposed to be a cool, reliable setup.

I have the Velineon system in my Slash w/2s 5250 lipo. Mine runs a bit "warm" but I have it set up 22/86. I agree w/Duster re: the 4600 is a good thing w/Slash and the 5700 is way too much power. I have also heard running the Castle ESC w/VXL motor is a good setup. I tried MM7700 w/2s in a Slash and it wasn't all that; I thought the VXL 3500 ran better.
