HI. i just bought a used tmaxx off one of my friends about two weeks ago. i beleive it is a 2.5.after running for a week and some im starting to have a butt load of problems. Can anyone help me out with these problems. thanks.
Stalls when i floor it
wont idle
wont shift
super hard to start
sputters
and i can never get it to run at the right temp(either to hot or cold)
I am new to this stuff and i dont have a instruction book.
any other tips would be great.
thanks again.
All of those problems are related to a tuning issue. If this is your first nitro, I would download the manual on the traxxas website, and read it a few times.
My advice is start from factory settings with a new glow plug.
Screw in both of your needles all of the way, back the HSN (main needle) 4 full turns (counterclockwise). Turn the LSN (needle on the end of the slide valve) 1 1/2 turns (counterclockwise).
It sounds like you're rich, but just start back from the factory settings and retune
i'd suggest, sell the tmaxx for what you can and get the best electric you can afford. If you are looking to stay with a monster truck, then look into a used e-maxx on here or even buy new. If you have the money, buy a e-revo
the initial cost to get into electric sometimes can add up, car, batteries, charger, etc. but then you are done.
I wouldn't suggest selling it I would suggest learning a little bit about it since you already have it. Nitro is a little harder to get into but it was the way that I went and I felt like I learned more about these things that way. Once you get the tune right and its running good you will feel like you accomplished something. Just download the manual and read it as was suggested above. However if you are already to the point of giving up on the sport because of it I would suggest trying electric before you quit.
If your having problem give up and try something else ? ???
The traxxas motors are pretty good motors. There is a little learning curve on getting the working properly. Do you live near a RC off road track ? That would be your best bet, go there and have someone show you how. If thats not an option, Youtube is some what helpful .
These are for a different truck but i think they are really helpful in getting you the right idea.
Dont give up, if your getting to frustrated put it waway and try agian another day. The Tmaxx is a great truck to learn on and tons of fun when working right.
i think i may switch to electric but im worried about the run time with the batteries how lonng do you usally get to drive on 1 battery. also whitch electric would you suggest. i was looking at the slash and it looked pretty good.

You would be happy w/Slash. They are plenty strong and durable and fun to bash or race; lots of available parts and upgrades are not all that much. Runtimes vary w/batt. but w/2s 5250, gearing, figure 25 min or so-depending on how you drive of course.
I dont personally have a slash..but ive heard alot of great things about them! Im new to the hobby myself..almost got one but didnt..opted for the rustler..good vehicle...but wanted something that i could race, and the slash looks like a better way to go for my area. Wishing now that i went with the slash. Iam now seriously thinking bout getting one.
It seems like wherever i go there is a slash race...so weather ur looking for something to bang around with and/or race...the slash would be a great way to go.

u kno with the technology noww lipo and brushless is tought to beat,,, theyr both fast and run for a long time... its a little pricey for rookie.. but they will last u a long time with nearly 0 maintenence.. truly giving u the plug n play affect
o btw slashes are very popular, theyr "spec" race ready..and are pretty cheap.. however they also have the traxxas quality parts.. not so fantastic but a good begginer car nontheless
