Default Car trouble

Hello everyone.... My name is Adam and I new to this. I went to a race and loved it so I went hunting for one. I was at a yard sale a bought a 1/10 buggy but i dont know who makes it. I fix it up. So my problem is if i hold the car up and give gas the tires spin but when i put the car on the ground and give gas it goes like 5mph... I live in manhattan, NY looking to meet other drivers that I could learn more about racing

Take your clutch bell and check your clutch shoes. They are probably worn out. I bought a used 10th buggy and the shoes where completely melted inside the bell.

does it have a 2-speed tranny? If so can you hear it shift when you hold it off the ground?

To be honest Roy I don't know if its a 2 speed tranny how do I check for that. When I get home I will give it gas and see if it changes gear..

If its a 2-speed when you hold it off the ground and floor the thottle you will hear it shift. Just by looking the at it the clutch bell will have 2 gears on it one bigger than the other.
