Questions?? How to charge a lipo? Need help!

Hi guys. I am a new to Lipo. Please look at the picture and tell me please, is it required to solder a deans connectors on the balancer (instead of banana connectors) in order to charge lipo or it can be charged through balancing leads?

so u dont have to risk killing your lipo by changin the connector. make it easier on urself in making a pigtail adapter that goes from banana to deans (so female banana to male deans). that way u can charge both styles. the battery u have now, and maybe 1 u get later thats different. or helping a buddy. never know. adapters are your friend. if at all possible u never want to risk puttin a new connector on a lipo. b/c if u accidently touch and short the lipo=99% of time=dead.

good luck

I have the same charger and balancer.....I would make an adapter for your balancer to go to Deans.
You should not try to charge your lipo with just the small wires. Use the large black and red wires also

Banana connectors are also referred to as bullet connectors or just bullets. Make an adapter to use, few inches of 12ga silicone wire, male deans and pr of male banana connectors and solder everything up. That will connect your V balance to the main power lead from your lipo and you lipo balance tap will plug into the balance board from the V Balance.

I've done someting similar but used a female deans since it connects my lipos that use banana (5.5mm) connectors to deans plugs on my truck.

Can't read size of your lipo from your pic, but you def don't want to charge it thru balance tap wiring.

Thanks for help! Instead making an adapter, I have cut bullet connectors and solder male deans on my v-balancer.
My lipo is 5000mAh and 35C. I have charged it yesterday and it is works good (probably).
Again, thank you all for help.

Why is that? I have a CellPro 4S that I used to charge 3S packs for a heli and all you use is the balance ports to charge. Now I am getting into cars I just bought a Bantam charger, I guess you charge the pack through the power leads and also the balance ports??? Can you just use the power leads to charge if you don't care about balancing??? I am so confused with the new fangled tech.

For surface rc, lipos are much bigger so lipo charge rates may run from 5 - 10amps, you don't want to try that thru balance wiring - its too small and you may melt it. The 3S heli lipos I have all charge at low rates (< 1amp) and that you can obviously do thru the balance wiring.

You charge thru the main power wires and balance thru the balance wires at the same time with a balancing charger.
