Default Brushless Systems

There are so many different brands and I haven't been in the game long to know whats bad and whats good.

Im looking to spend around 175 for a system with esc.

I'll be putting this system in a traxxas ruslter xl-5.
I'm looking for a solid system, Speed and reliability.

What do you recommend?

I would say the Traxxas Velineon. Has ESC and Motor. Solid system. Easy to program, easy to use.

Info here: http://www.traxxas.com/products/elec...on-intro-1.htm

I put one in my Stampede, runs like a champ. And in your price range.

VXL, have it and is great, would have gone with the MM 4700kv but the shop was out of it.

VXL - speed and ease of use, would say reliability but ran my first motor for ~3 hours then it overheated and died.

Bad motor, go figure.
New motor runs, as someone else put it, like "a scalded dog".

Stick with a "name brand"... If budget is what you want look at the Novak Havoc.. $150 with customer service second to none. Castle Creations Sidewinder is pretty good to with budget in mind, but it is sensorless, so you will need good batteries if you don't want cogging problems.

I am in the same boat. Last year I upgraded to brushless and went with the Novak XBR controller that came with an EX 10.5 motor. I just stuck with the brand names that I remembered were big back in the day.

It worked great, but I have since upgraded to a CC Mamba Max.

Pretty cool stuff regardless!
