Default Newbie needs help deciding which R/C to buy...

The last time I had an RC was about 10 years ago. I had a kyosho stadium truck and had a lot of fun with it. Now I would like to buy a new truck or buggy but not sure what to go with. I want something that will be for offroad. I will be driving it most of the time in the street/yard, off bike ramps, and on the bmx track near my house.

Maybe you guys can help me decide between these things:

Gas or Electric?
Buggy, Stadium Truck or Monster Truck?
HPI, Assciated, Losi or _______?

Thanks for any advice you guys can offer.
Mike

Default buggy

i would get a nitro buggy i have a lot of fun with mine i also have some other cars/trucks and i drive my buggy the most. the trucks are kinda dead right now and its hard to find a race but there is always a buggy class. as far as brand... its up 2 how much you want to spend xray is the top of the line and is the new bad a$$ on the market. jammin makes a great car also. thats the 2 im looking to upgrade 2. this is a good place to get info as well as your local track and hobby shops.

Any flavor Traxxas Rustler or Stampede comes to mind, or even a T/E-Maxx.

All are proven bashers with a healthy aftermarket, and the electric Rustler and T-Maxx aren't totally useless out on a racetrack after some wrenching.

Well since you are bashing then get a Revo or T maxx because they can take a beating and can be raced easily too

Default deciding factor

A good basher that i liked:

XTM Mammoth St: Low price for rtr, durable, Fast, 4wd, 1/8th scale Nitro, Alot of power, also can be raced so i here, the only downfall on my part was finding parts, you can do it online or find a dealer...

If you like stadium trucks and Speed:

Traxxas Jato 3.3: Pricey for rtr, durable, Very fast, 2wd,
1/10th scale nitro, Just get some dirt tires for it, stocks are good on street only.....

If you like monster trucks:

Traxxas Revo or Hpi Savage

I say Losi. If you want something small XXX-T, if you want something bigger that will take more of a beating, go with a Aftershock, for they are cheaper than most MT's and just as good.

Traxxas makes good stuff for bashing and parts are easy to find anywhere you go. Your LHS (local hobby shop) will surely have Traxxas products. The new Traxxas brushless stuff will give you the ease of electric and tremendous speed and power. I personally like the TMaxx for bashing and general play. It jumps well, it's durable and cheap, parts are easy to find. The EMaxx is good too, also like previous people have mentioned the Buggies and Truggies are good. Stick with something that's easy to get parts for, good luck and welcome back to RC!!

Well big Mike. Think about how your want to spend, second if you are going to run in street and your yard, think about the people that live around you. Nitro is pretty loud, just a thought. have fun
