Default Damper Oil

I was just wondering when should i be using soft, medium or hard damper oils?

What are planning on doing bashing racing etc. Usually you will use shock oil changes on a track not so much for bashing. Generally a thinner oil for a rougher track and a thicker oil for smoother high bite track for off road.
It also depends on what pistons and springs you are using too.
