Noob qns on batteries

I have a few newbie questions with regards to batteries (I know there must be similar threads but can't seem to find them!):

1. Is it necessary to discharge NiMH batteries before recharging them again?

2. What is the proper method of NiMH battery storage over a period of about 1 month? Any difference if storing them for about 2 weeks?

3. What about storage of NiCds? Is it true that its best to discharge them (till 0.9 v per cell) for longer term storage?

Looking forward to your professional advice! Thanks a lot guys!

If you don't plan on racing your NiMH packs for more than a week, you will want to fully discharge them and then charge them for about 5-10 minutes.
