Default Tuning is it worth it?

alright so i have come to the conclusion that my engine needs a tune up before i can even run it the idle screw is all out of whack. so is it really worth it to pay someone 20 dollars an hour to work on it and get it running again or would it be better to do it my self and how would i go about tuning it my self??

what engine is it?... I know the older HPI engines with a high-speed adjustment needle and idle screw are pretty easy to tune.

when i start it up the RPMs go way up and then the engine dies. i asked some other people that knew something about them and they all said that it prolly needs to be tuned. and im not sure if i want to pay someone 20 dollars an hour to do it. i tried the idle screw and that did nothing i had it all the way in and and almost all the way out and everything in between and nothing changed. so i really don't know what to do about it.

yea i think the clutch is engaged because the wheels are spining, and the carb is open just a little bit. but i could be wrong. i really don't know all that much about it but this is my guess.

unscrew the idle screw a little bit...(The small screw with a spring on it located on the carburetor)

have you messed with the high end needle valve yet?

I dont think the HPI has a low/mid adj valve... So its just a matter of the idle and the hi end needle valve.

hmmm... i think you are talking about the high speed needle valve. I mean the small phillips-head screw with a spring around it.

(It is on the carb, placed on the opposite side of the valve with the fuel tube inlet)
