Default Motor compatability?

Hi all, I'm a brand newbie to petrol rc, have used electrics etc for ages with planes the last 2 years. But I have been given a petrol motor, servo's & fuel tank by a mate who had them in a petrol rc plane he smashed so got out of the hobby.

Anyway the motor is a OS Max LA46. I was wonderin if plane motors can be used in cars or do I need a specific type to run in an offroad 4x4 truck? Also, can anyone give me any tips re this motor & converting it to truck if it's possible to do so, like what size truck 1/10th, or smaller or whatever? I'm a very green newbie. TIA.

the cooling heads on land vehicles are way bigger than aircraft cause less amounts of air passes through em unlike an aircraft engine which has ALOT of air running through from the prop......ur better off buying an engine for like 150 bucks like a STS .28 or sumthing and running that.....aircraft engines are not for land vehicles lol

Thanks for that mate. I wasnt sure if it could be done. I have a few electric rc planes so that's why hadnt wanted to use it for anothr plane but have always wanted petrol rc 4x4. Oh well, just have to keep saving for my truck & in the meantime join the local combat aircraft (they dont allow electrics in the door).

Thanks again for the info mate. I know it must've seemed a dumb question, but I have zero knowledge of petrol rc.... yet!
