Default Motors

Hey guys. I wanted to know what a decent first upgrade for my motor should be. I'm kinda an beginner-intermediate racer.

Also what specs should I be looking at (19t, 21t) what does that mean ?

also if I upgrade my motor...its definately gonna chew up more battery right ?

First a few questions:
-What ESC do you have (what are its limits)
-What battery do u run? MAH?
-Will you be racing at a track or just bashing?

Typically most RTR come with poor motors and going to a stock 27T motor such as the P2k2 or CO27 would rock your world. IF your ESC can take it the next best thing thats easy on batteries and esc is a 19T motor. Going from there its all modified and it will take a high end ESC.

getting a 19 - 21 turn motor will deliver better than the cheep stock motor that came with your rtr.

the less turns, the more rpm/power (ex. 15 compared to 20)
the more, the less rpm/power (ex. 20 compared to 15)

though, you HAVE TO HAVE a proper speedo to handle that power. i would suggest getting a 13 or less turn speedo, as they will handle almost anything above thier limit.

you can get one of these...

also, the less turns, the less run time. so, i would suggest a 3000+ mah pack, you can get a 3300 at radioshack for 25$. its a good value.

i just listed about 85$ of stuff to get to work with a lower turn motor, but you will Not be disapointed. the raw power of a 15 turn is amazing! your car/truck will fly as it almost never has before! enjoy!

any motor you buy will require mantainence (cut, re-brush, ect.) so consider spending a bit if you can on a motor like the v2 orion or team checkpoint----alot of racers report being able to get alot of runs (as much as 15-20) before you have to do a rebuild... and they will be very fast

If you can take your motor out, and look at the labels, you can tell what kind of motor it is. And your ESC will probably only be able to hold whatever your motor is.

What car do u have? RTR i assume? Post a picture of it. Either way you can safely install a stock motor such as trinity p2k2 or co27 wich are very fast and very popular. Get them in pro versions for extra speed. Great for bashing, easy on your budget, easy on your esc and easy on your batteries..

I have the skyline gtr rtr kit...like in my pic

my ESC is stock so it probably handles like you said, just the basics...

a stock motor is what...27t's ?...the p2k2 or co27 are both 27t's...right ?

the p2k2 or co27...they're both 27t's but they will be faster than my current stock motor...is that right ?

how bout this one...will it work with my car
