Default Is DSSS for ground & air?

I was told that a DSSS system can be used for an RC product regardless of if it is air or ground. I have been away from RC for 10years and do not know anything about the new radios. Frequency "channels" use to seperate the two product types.

Has the FCC really done away with designated frequency separation and made DSSS (and probably FASST & FHSS) exempt from the type of model (air / ground) being used?
Thanks

The difference between surface 2.4 tech and air 2.4 tech is generally the air 2.4 tech has a much further distance capability. Not much difference otherwise, there may be some special things surface 2.4 tech can do (like decreased latency) compared to airplane tech, but otherwise it's minimal.
