Airhogs are VERY durable so no you don't need parts. They're disposable helis. By the time they eventually break you'll be well on your way to a more advance heli. I'm speaking from personal experience here. 30 seconds? I don't think so unless you fly it into a swimming pool...lol.

This is the cheapie 3ch coaxial I learned with. I practiced with it for several months until I let my friend fly it into the ceiling at full throttle and damaged the tail motor which controls forward/backward movement.

Not sure about buying a heli used - I bought a "guaranteed hover" CX-2 that out of the box went immed and agressively off hard to the left and low no matter what I did. The swash plate was bad and a servo had died, but it sure was grief getting that figured out. I just got some else's problems.

I'll stay with new as I progress thru these and try to get better.

Airhogs are toys, there is no learning anything, as for used its hit and miss with anything.

if you are serious about flying and want to drop the cash on a stable, semi affordable and proven heli that you do not need to build go with a blade 400, its going to cost you alot to learn, and your looking anywhere from 10 to 100 bucks a crash depending on what blades you run.

All helis are toys, some are just more expensive and complex than others. A big $100 3ch coaxial is as toy as a small palm sized $20 3ch coaxial heli. If you can't fly a cheap $20 3ch heli, you'd be a complete moron to start with a $100+ heli...unless of course you're Richie Rich...lol.

Some people prefer to train on a flight simulator so they could start on something more complex like a 6ch heli which is great. If you just want to fly 4ch helis, you don't need a simulator. In fact it's more fun to train on a real heli even if it's a cheap $20 "toy" heli.

$100 coaxials are all 4 channel, I have never seena $100 3ch

And a flight simulator is an invaluable tool no matter what you fly, you would be a "moron" not to use one to learn to fly helis these days.

And large helicopters should never be considered toys and should be used with great caution, the fact is that they can hurt and yes kill people. Anything 400 and above will do great damage if it hits anthing or anyone, even smaller size 250's will hurt, now on the other hand when I had my cx's long ago you could fly them into stuff with out much damage, normally the blades would just fly apart.

Here's one that comes to about $100 after shipping.

A marble is a toy but if I threw it at you at 70MPH and it hits you in the eye it will do damage, it's still a toy.

The Honey Bee V2 is a good beginner heli and very low cost too, also parts are easy to find.
