Default looking for some advice on an electric plane

i currently own a tower trainer 40 and a friend of mine wants to get into an electric for under 300 so we found the Hobbico NexSTAR Mini EPs electric

i know its easier to learn on bigger planes but this is what he wants. is the plane good or bad.

I don't own one but it looks like it could be a decent first plane and it is a decent price. But it looks like it would get boring to look at and fly. I personally have a just as much fun with warbird planes as I do aerobatic planes. They have gotten where they make most of the RTF/BNF scale warbird planes fly like trainers.
I would also consider some of the parkzone planes, like the BNF warbirds and also they have some new RTF micro planes that are fun to fly.

When it comes to airplanes, any with a standard electronics setup are usually good. Airplanes that use one command pod that has all servo's, and radio equiptment in a single unit, like the lower end beginner planes are usually garbage.

how about the apprentice, they are nice plane and pretty close to the mini nexstar. Any warbird or bnf plane that parkzone has is not a good trainer/highwing plane, I have them or have flown them. They are fast and will go where you point them.

otherwise how about the electristar. very fun trainer plane.

Thought about buying a 3D EPP plane? I'm new to flying and bought a Techone Gent and absolutely love it. I've only been flying about 2 weeks and I'm already hovering 2 feet off the ground. The great thing is that it's EPP. I've crashed this thing about 15-20 times and have only broken a prop and busted a carbon fiber rod support loose. Grab some foam safe CA and you're back in business in a matter of a few minutes. This plane does what you tell it to so, in my opinion you can save it from trouble very easily and spot land it in grass without breaking anything.
