Hi guys,
I'm sure this has been asked 1000's of times, but I have been in the nitro vehicles hobby for a a while now and love it.
I've always wanted to get into the planes though, so I started off by recently picking up RealFlight G4.5. It's clearly not as easy as it looks! lol
So I'm wondering what you guys would suggest for a bigginner. I guess to start off I would like to go the electric route.
Is there anything out there that would be good for a beginner that I won't outgrow too fast? Specifically, I have to admit I'm not that great at the RF Sim lol so I would like to know that whatever I purchase as easily available parts for replacement.

I would suggest an EasyStar, great plane that you can get RTF for under $200...IIRC.
They can take some pretty crazy brushless power if you want to go fast, can can carry a good load, lots of people use them for taking pictures from the planes....that never gets old.
Easy to fly, you can mod the heck out of it. A better starter plane is hard to find, and a plane that can do so much is hard to find.
I won't recommend any certain airplane, but will say this, a great way to get into RC aircraft is with a sailplane. They are slow, very forgiving, and most important easy to land. Whatever you pick it's best if you can get some help from an experienced pilot.

Hi
I use a Hobbico trainer 40 size and have advanced to adding a 51 Super Tigre on the nose and it goes like a Raped Ape sport plane when I want to , O by the way I raised the landing gear to 7 inches and use it to drop a 2 lb RC Skydiver so it gets double duty and real fun to fly as a sport plane when not jumping , Just something for thought
What ever you decide to get , Go to a flying club and talk with some experanced flyers , better yet go to a flying field as more than likly the ones at field will be more help than any of us on line
and get a AMA membership and have someone at field help you fly on a buddy box and learn the right way insted of just going to a open field as you will learn more and could be a lot less expence in the long run
Happy Flying and pm me if need any help

A good suggestion, and I will say that all clubs are different it might take some looking for you to find one that you will feel at home with.
Many clubs still shun electrics and look down upon them as many of the old school flyers think they are toys and not real airplanes.
Whatever you do fly the type of plane you want to fly, gas or electric, foam, or balsa. Don't let anyone try to force you in one direction or another. All forms are great. You do have to understand you have to walk before you can run, so you can't start off with that 60" warbird, so a good trainer is the first step you have to take.
