Newb needs advice on boats
Hey all,
Want to get a boat for the lake. Looking to keep it electric as I will only use it 6 or 7 times a year. Can you advise what to get?
Single Hull or Twin Hulls?
Which handles better
Can my DX3R Tx work with electric boats?
Should I get an RTR?
If no on the RTR, Can you advise a good package that I can put together?
LiPo, servo, rx advice?
Are most of these built with metric tools?
Thanks,
Dave

Take a look at the Aquacraft SuperVee 27 (Mono), ProBoat Mystic (Cat), Venom P1 King of Shaves (Mono), Venom C1 King of Shaves (Cat). I know there are a bunch I am forgetting but the RTR's out there nowdays are pretty good performance right out of the box!

pro boats will link up to your dx3r, I would look for a miss geico or a mystic, they have a few new boats shipping the end of this month or middle of next. Just pick a design that fits you best.
A deep Vee is going to handle chop better without flipping but doesn't run as fast or turn as good as a cat (miss geico)
If you have extra recievers to throw in one of the aquacraft boats they are good as well. I have the motley crew and the ul1 and I am happy with both, the motley crew flies and handles like they are on rails.
A few words of wisdom, boats have more more amp draw than our cars, you run alot more wide open throttle on the boats. The stock motor bullet connectors can be a weak point on them, upgrading to 5mm or 5.5mm Bullets is a big plus and even on the batteries upgrading to the ec5 plugs with 5mm connectors will really help things from melting and getting hot.
Pro boats seem to have a bit better build quality where the aquacrafts handle a little better. I hope that helps.
here is some links to look at all good boats all worth having

Just pick what looks cool to you fits your budget, they can all reach the 40mph range easy

Start with a monohull. It is easier to set up than cats and hydro's. Buy the book Basics of Fast Electrics in the Airage store: http://www.airagestore.com/books/boa...ric-boats.html
A good boat will be the Traxxas Spartan. http://traxxas.com/products/models/marine/5708spartan

Stick with a mono for sure

Well couldn't hold out any longer. Bought the Balckjack 26 RTR. Gonna use my stater box NiMh 3000 out of my starter box until I can get some lipos. I was bummed to find out that I can't use my DX3R with this boat, so I'll use the Tx that came with it.
A couple of questions:
Any idea why the DX3R doesn't work?
Where do I get the board that will allow me to program this for LiPo?
Do you all think it will run faster on Lipos at 7.4 or just longer and more steady voltage than NiMh?

That's one reason I run Futaba everything because I haven't had not one problem land, air nor water with futaba. Spectrum had issues with the signal bouncing off the water from what I have heard as I don't have personal spectrum water experience thus the reason they came out with a "marine"specific set-up.
I do still see people using their other spectrum radios with boats though
That tuning board you should be able to order from horizon.
Running lipos will indeed make your BJ26 faster for sure!

[QUOTE=roadrashracing;9427957]Is there something on the back that says marine, if it does it should work, if it does not, then youy might be able to send the radio in and get it updated.[/QUOTE
My DX3R doesn't say Marine. Sending it in to Horizon to have it updated is a great idea. I'll call them and ask next week.
Can this boat be run on 4S?

If it's stock, go online to the proboat site and read the tech specs

Are you running the Brushless or brushed?
I ran my brushless Blackjack 26 with 2 2s packs (7.4v) I believe they were these ones below as my ESC was a 45amp and I used the program board to use Lipos.
