Default My winter project

I got this in trade from a guy on Craigslist

Its a Dumas Miss Circus Circus 1/8 hydroplane

Needs to be sanded down and a fresh paintjob.

Question, Are the front canards supposed to be functional on these. These ones are just static....

It has no powerplant in it. I was thinking something completely stupid like a 10s lipos setup

This is my first boat so its a learning deal for me. I dont car if it takes all winter sense all the water in this state will be frozen in 2 months anyhow.

The inside is a mess right now. Reminds me of how much I dont like nitro engines.

So you can get a feel for the size of this boat here is a 1/8 buggy lid on it.

I plan to basically take this thing all the way down to the wood and start over. I want to paint my racing scheme on it.

8S to 10S is what your going to need in order to get that thing moving along with lots of $$$$$$... Your only going to get 2-3 min of run time.

You'll need to put that pig on a diet. It looks like it has about 5lbs of paint and old fuel/oil soaked in.

Later,
Mike

I am pretty well versed in brushless systems. Pretty sure it will run for a bit longer than 2-3 min.

It weighs around 12 lbs right now

All that old paint will be coming off

Cool

What you need to consider as your setting this boat up is Center of Gravity or balancing point (CG), when the boat is Completely assembled you want the CG as close to the back of the turn fin as possible and no further forward than the front edge of the turn fin. The batteries will most likely be your heaviest components so they will need to be close to where you want the CG. You may also want to consider putting Duel Motors in it if you want it to really fly and do it for more than 3 or 4 min. You will want water cooling for the Motor and ESC especially if you go with a single motor. When deciding on props your better off going with small props and high RPM's to much prop will over heat the motor and ESC real fast. Most FE Boats are set up to only run 5 or 6 Fast Laps or a couple Real Fast straight runs and that's it, you have A Lot more continuous load on a motor in a boat then you do in a Buggy.
You will most likely have to move the radio box or eliminate it completely and Tape the Cowl on to keep it sealed. I have often seen the FE boats set up with a secondary cover under the cowl that covers the engine bed area and seals it from water getting in, and the cowl goes on after the secondary is taped in place.

You have A Lot of work ahaed of you!!

Yea it will, you would have probably been better off cleaning that hull up and selling it to a Nitro Junky and buying a new hull from one of the Fast Electric Boat sites. That thing with a .60 engine in it was probably doing good to get close to 50mph if that. There are Many FE hulls out there that will blow that away with A Lot less motor\battery in it.

Well I believe that is a DUMAS Kit, you can find it here. http://www.dumasestore.com/catalog/p...roducts_id=249

Your not going to find many hulls that size specificly for electric most the FE Hulls are much smaller.
This is a Great site to see what is available for the FE crowd.
http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/products.php?cat=9

This is a post in one of the FE Forums about 1\8 scale FE Boats
http://www.rumrunnerracing.com/fefor...hp/t-9431.html

Or convert one of the kits from ZIPPKITS.COM
http://www.zippkits.com/13021.htm
