Interesting bend in the flex shaft tube. did it come pre-bent or did you have to do it?

By the way, it's looking real good!

Default i bent it per the instructions

here is a pic from the instruction manual

and here is a quate

When the tubing has cooled off we will
be bending it into an “S” shape.
Why an “S” shape?
Tests have proven that a tube with two
bends has less drag than a tube with
one.
The reason is that two bends support
the flex cable better, reducing cable
whip, and drag.
Measure from the end of the engine
collet to the rear bulkhead.
Remove the engine.

thanks

Default doing fine

Looks like your build is coming along just fine. I pulled mine off the shelf the other day and started reassembling after painting the polyurethane last month. I see you bought the hardware kit for strut and rudder from Zippkits.
You mentioned mounting your motor, what motor did you choose and where did you find it? I still haven't got mine yet. JoeD.

Default engine

I have only put off buying an engine cause I've been waiting to see what two other guys in my club are going to do. There is a .12 novarossi engine made specifically for a model like this but I'm on the fence wether to get one or try to fit a buggy engine in it.
A word of advice though, I strongly urge you to consider a .12 engine and not a .21 or bigger, the sheer weight of a larger engine will be a big problem in that little hull. Just trying to shoe horn a .21 would be tricky at best.
One of the biggest hurdles for using a buggy engine is figuring out how to get a marine coupler to fit on the output shaft, otherwise it would be a drop in! I'm leaning toward a buggy engine because most of the head is exposed with this type of hull. Still not sure which way to go yet.

i will get you a link for the coupler to bolt directly to a buggy engine , they also have the belt grooved flywheel

Guess I cant post pics yet lol oh well.

New here but decided to share my JAE.12, I have ran a cvrm-m, osTZ.18, and a NR.12 in mine. NOTHING TOUCHED THE NR.12!!! just my thoughts on the motor. I'm building number 2 now, sold this one.

Looking darn good! I'm probably going to buy the dual pickup Gas Hydro Hardware Set from zippkits.com for my 58'' deep-vee. Cant beat the price plus free shipping...

Also, hopefully Captcrunch will be sending me some free boat parts... just waiting for him to find some free time to ship it out!

Good luck on the build! Cant wait to see that video!

How are you going to paint it? What type, color, # of coats, ect? Just curious because I'll be painting my boat soon and I've never done a boat, just car bodies.

Thanks

Default f15pilot

hello

i need to pick up my game plan . you are going to have your scratch built hull built before i get my kit finished (lol) .

you cant hardly beat zippkits prices and they are very good quality parts .

as far as painting goes i m going to seal the boat with the west system (awesome product a bit pricey but you get what you pay for)

http://www.pbsboatstore.com/west-system-epoxy-resin.htm

and as far as paint i m going to use a automotive base paint and i m going to seal it with a fuel proof clear coat .

i should be able to get most of it done by next weekend .

i have been doing a gas conversion on my 90 size outrigger and it has been giving me a headache .

i will get pics up asap as i progress

thanks all for the interest
