Default Prop/Shaft Location

Hey everyone.

I got a old boat here that was made by a professional boat builder (normal ski boats) and he built a model for his son. I now own it and it did have a .21 notro motor in it but motor had issues so i am now converting to brushless.

Anyways I had another bought rtr boat and also noticed on all new boats the props r surface piercing.

My boat is designed so shaft comes out under the boat like a typical ski boat.

Will this affect it at all? I know i not gunna get the same rooster tail etc but i not worried.

how will this affect motor selection. i assume it is gunna be harder to turn having no air in the mix so will i need a higher kv motor to give it better torque?

Any advice?

Cheers
Matt

Matt, are we talking about a mono hull here? If so it has a submerged drive and probably it is a FSR class hull. If you want to go fast and converting it to a fast electric brushless boat get rid of the submerged drive and put a surface drive on it by using a stingdrive:

thanks a lot for that.

What does FSR stand for.

Its modelled off a real size boat without any knowledge of RC boats at the time.

Anyways i have nearly finiahed the setup with the submerged drive but i havent painted it yet.

Might have a bit of a think n see. I not looking for super fast just something to have fun with.

I got a gas boat to go fast with lol.

Prolly use the electric more for playing around and a rescue boat hahaha.

I'll think about the surface drive though.
