Curtis, when does it stall? When you get on the throttle? Imediatly after hitting the water? after 2 min of running?

The engine should run with a "burbbling" sound out of the water. Should sound like it's choaking on the fuel. If it continually dies when it is pitched into the water than you are too rich. Other wise it's running lean and need to be richend up.

BTW to launch a nitro boat you don't set it in the water, you give it a toss so it has some good forward momentum when it hits the water.

uncouple the motor/clutch from the driveline. and make sure the driveline turns freely even with full left and right steering... then if your good there. then check the clutch springs.. to make sure they arent engaging early.. if they feel weak then replace the clutch shoes/springs then check the clutch bearings to make sure they spin freely.. replace if needed..

if thats all good then look into tuning. once you get tuning down then restrict the outgoing water cooling hose.. at the head with a zip tie... stick the tube out the side of the boat. to check the stream..(i say this cause the water cooling is dumped into the exhaust.)
at full throttle/full speed it should barely stream out the tube.. 1 to 2 inches maximum

if water moves too fast through the cooling head it doesnt give the motor enought time to exhchange heat to the water. so you get overheating.

also check to make sure you have a good seal on the fuel tank and no holes in the fuel line.. retune slightly leaner than startup/breakin procedure and start from there. also make sure you have a fresh glow plug...

sorry to ramble on

Are you using the stock prop or did you change the prop?

I had a similar problem when I first started and of course I had to mess with everything before troubleshooting the initial problem. To make a long story short the problem was that the fuel mixture was too rich. After I had a local dealer fix the problems I created, we made a leaner mixture and the boat ran great.

Default thanks guys

its time for a total rebuild I think. The motor runs fine sitting there. But once its in the water it goes about 2-3 feet then stalls. Ive got it tuned good I THINK.. im going to try all the lines, and then the clutch springs. seems to be a hard part to get to.

ill keep my progress posted.

dont forget that putting it in the water adds lots of stress to the engine and drive line which means you may want to mess with the mixture screws a bit more. I had this problem with my 30cc boat. As soon as I put it in the water it would cut off. Keep trying and good luck!
