my brother has an electric hammer and it does fairly well/ nothing compared to 35mph like the SV27 but its a fun boat to mess around with in small ponds and stuff

I'm still very new to this. I'm also looking at some of the kits from BBY. They have hulls and hardware.

you could say im new to this too. i have a very old kyosho boat that i built a few years back. it was decent and good then, but now gets smoked by even my brothers hammer. what are some good, inexpensive kits that oculd take a brushless motor?

BBY's Scatcat looks like a pretty good boat for use with 6 cells. Sounds fast and I'm thinking I can build one using RC car stuff that I already have.

Here's their writeup on it:

The all new Scat Cat is the perfect boat for the new NAMBA Offshore class. The Catamaran has been designed for 4 to 6 cells, but it can accommodate up to 12 cells for really insane running! BBY studied the best features of the ever popular Key West and updated and revolutionized the design for the new millennium. In the Scat Cat’s debut at the time trails in Southern California, the Scat Cat in NAMBA Offshore N2 trim (6 cells open motor) made a single pass of 34.35 mph, less then one half a mph off the National Record! But don’t let the speed fool you. The Scat Cat handles like a dream, it turns left as well as it turns right and is a super stable boat even in less the ideal water conditions. Combine all of the above with the fact that it is one of the easiest boats to setup, and it makes an ideal choice for the fast electric novice to the seasoned veteran.

I don't know what they had to do to get it to go 34 mph on 6 cells, but that sounds pretty good to me. I'm planning to stick a brushless and run 2 cell lipo in mine and maybe get that kind of performance.

they seem like good kits. so its only $60 for the hull, box, and dexk? what all does it need? just electronics? in yalls opinion, what would be better for a pond thats probably about half the size of a football field? hydro or mono hull? i would prefer to use a simple 6 cell boat and will probably run brushless, just dont know what system. which brushless system, in yalls opinion, is the best for acceleration and good top speed around 35mph?

You need the hardware for the rudder & shaft drive. The kit for $139 is called the Race Basic Kit contains: same as Hull Kit plus: transom doubler, Naylor aluminum out drive system, rudder, flex shaft (no straight shaft), BBY stickers, build sheet and safety info.

After that you need a coupler ($9.50), motor mount, a prop (no idea the price of), then your motor, esc, radio and servo. I'm hoping a car esc and motor won't melt down. I'll keep asking questions.

At the least I'm going to have some fun putting it together. The radio, motor, batteries and ESC I already have multiples of lying around, so it will cost $100 less than the SV. I like to tinker, and I think this will be fast enough for our pond with 6 cell and a mod motor. If ur starting from scatch, and eager to play, I'd say go with the SV.

ive built one boat in the past. an old kyosho. but all my motors and speed controls are being used in all my trucks and cars. id like to build one, but i would end up having to buy motor and speed controls. so, that would add up.

i was thinking either a hydroplane or mono hull boat. which one would you think is better? will be running in a medium sized pond, so i want it to be able to turn sharp and have a lot of acceleration, but will also be running in a huge lake sometimes so i want something that is extreamely fast and handles high speed turns well.
