Default Castle Creation ESC w/mamba max trouble w/Futaba 4PK

Hi Guys,

I finished my mid motor Chuckworks chassis project (AKA Sub Zero) and when I tried to bind or sync my Futaba 4PK with the 603 receiver, the car would go crazy. like a mind of its own. I spent all day with this issue, the steering was off, it would steer when and how it wanted, and the throttle wouldn't work if I was steering the car. I tried it with another FASST radio and receiver from a buddy of mine and it had issues, different issues like not assimilating the reverse, but then it would randomly full throttle on reverse and things like that.

Just to make sure, I borrowed my daughter's Spektrum 2e radio and receiver and everything was just dandy. Plug and play.

I am assuming the problem has to do with some type of programming this castle creation SC edition combo package.

Electronics on the car:
MAMBA MAX PRO SCT COMBO WITH 1415-2400KV MOTOR, 25V ESC
Futaba R603FS 3-Ch 2.4GHz FASST Receiver 3VCS
Savox Servo
3S 4100Mah lipo battery

I believe with the 4PK you need receiver 604/614. The 603 does not look like it's compatible with the 4PK. That 603 series is for the 3PK, 3PM etc. Only thing left to try.

Savox servo, it draws too much from the BEC in the mamba, shuts it off and reboots.

Get rid of the savox servo and buy a decent(KO, futaba, airtronics) servo.

Do you have the 4PK set on type C1 for a 603 receiver? I think the default is C2 (604, 614).

Disconnect the ESC from the receiver and then see if you can get the receiver to bind w/radio.

Like posted here the Savox servo draws too much power so either switch to a different servo or you can try stutter stopper.

With that clarification/addition I agree a receiver pack is a good diagnostic tool. I keep an old 4 AA cell holder around just for that reason.

Intriguing that it works with the Spektrum.

I'm still wondering that maybe he's using the wrong receiver. (incompatible) If he could get it to bind w/rec. pack and the ESC not hooked up, that would clear the receiver part.

Going by this 4pk manual snip it should work if set to C1 type. Maybe gives up some performance though?

The T4PK transmitter can use the Futaba 2.4GHZ R603FS/FF. However, there are two types of Futaba 2.4GHz receiver for vehicles: "C1" type and "C2" type. The R603FS and 603FF are "C1" type. The R604FS supplied with the 4PK set as standard is the "C2" type. Check that the setting matches the receiver being used. For example, when using the R604FS, the receiver type must be set to FASST-C2 and when using an R603FS or R603FF, the receiver type must be set to FASS-C1. If the setting is wrong, change it using the RX/SX type select function (page 46).

Hi guys,

It works perfect with the spektrum DX2e, so it shouldn't be the servo. I am using it on the C1 calibration. It wouldnt bind with the C2 option.

We connected a mt4s Radio from Airtronics and the rx471 airtronics receiver. It also went nuts.

I don't understand why it would work with the Spektrum and not with the futaba or airtronics? I dont know if I should talk directly to Castle Creation or Futaba.
