Default 4s lipo choice, need some opinions

I was about to order a turnigy 4s lipo but need to choose the mah. Is there a disadvantage to getting a higher mah pack? There's 5000,5600 and 6400 with each costing a few bucks more than the last.

Weight and size. That's about it.

Did some more looking and the turnigy isn't much cheaper than batteries from SMC or SPC. The Turnigy does have removable leads which is nice though.
Is there a significant difference in quality amongst the brands?

I will be running 1/8 ebuggy and need a decent battery.

Weight and size would be a disadvantage

the upside to having a higher mah battery is a couple different ways or theories.
1st being longer run times on the battery.
2nd is the performance that you can achieve from the battery I battery with higher mah with all other things the same should have a slightly higher output or c-rating.

the 2nd has many factors that take some real digging to get to the real benefits of but they are there.

a lot of the decision will be based on the use of the battery ie racing, bashing, vehicle , and such

I will be bashing and racing with this pack. Thinking for an extra few bucks I might as well get the higher mah pack.

I have had luck with turnigy in the past but never tried their 4s.

Some of the big mAh packs are really big and do not fit in all battery boxes, so measure yours first.

There is definitely more power and speed with more MAH but there is also a point of diminishing returns when the extra weight cancels out the extra power.

On my TC4 speed run car, I could not get it to go any faster than 111 mph on a 3000 MAH pack. I later switched to a 5000 MAH pack of the same series, manufacturer ,and C rate and eventually got it up to 128 mph with everything else on the car staying the same (motor/esc, gearing, voltage, tires, etc...)

Hope this helps.

Would definitely rec measuring the space for batteries and also take note of where the wiring comes out of the pack I have seen times where a packs wiring comes out in the worst possible position. once you have the dimensions find the highest mah within reason and go for it for bashing run time is king and power is extra pudding.

Have a Venom 4s 5000 now. I'll see how it does and decide if I need a second pack later. Thanks for all the advice.

Now it seems a better charger may be in order....
