Default Confirm my charger/power supply choice

I need to be able to charge the following batteries in parallel at 1C:

Four 3s 5000 mah lipo
Four 2s 5000 mah lipo
Two 2s 8200 mah lipo

I am looking at the Icharger 406 duo and the Mean Well RSP-1500-24 power supply plus two para-boards.

Will this charger/power supply allow me to charge all of these batteries at once?

Sorry if this seems like a newbie question but I just want to confirm before I plunk down the cash with progressive RC.

Thanks!

You can charge them seperately and will take 3 charge cycles.

1. Parallel charge the 2s packs (5000) (2 packs)
2. Parallel charge the other 2s packs (8000) (4 packs)
3. Parallel charge the 3s packs (5000) (4 packs)

You cannot mix and match the packs as they are different capacities and are different voltages. The 406 duo is a nice little charger and depending on how many amps you plan on charging at that PS is going to be overkill. check out feathermerchant.com for some converted server ps and save a bunch.

Wouldn't the dual channel aspect of this charger allow for the 2s packs to parallel charge on one channel and the 3s packs to parallel charge on the other?

Shouldn't parallel charge packs with dissimilar capacities.

I have read that article and several others about parallel charging and the whole point of parallel charging is that you can charge packs with dissimilar capacities at once as long as the cell count is the same.

So with this dual port charger, one port would be used to para charge the 6s packs and the other would be used to para charge the 4s packs. Does this make sense?

rock rod.. Yes your PS 24v 62 amps will do the job.. as for battery's you are only doing 4 cells only.. then 2 cells only then 2 cells only(8200) correct.. not all on same parallel board ?.. big no no.

It would be six individual 2 cell packs on one para board plugged into one channel and four individual 3 cell packs on the other board plugged into the second channel. So in other words one channel would be for the 2s packs and the other would be for the 3s packs. I would not try to charge a mixture of 2s and 3s packs on a single para board. Each channel would have its own para board.

I do a good bit of parallel charging with 2s and 4s packs using a 308 duo and a 70amp ps.

While you can charge 2s packs with various capacities, I choose to be a bit cautious and only charge packs with similar capacities. 3200mah imho is greater than what I would like to mix and match. If it takes me a bit longer to charge my packs but I have peace of mind {shrug} doesn't hurt really.

One paraboard/channel dedicated to the 2 cell packs and a second paraboard/channel dedicated to the 3 cell packs.

I just would not do it .. that kinda charging leads to batterys going up in smoke.. stick with batts all same capacity.. just be safe .. or buy a 2nd charger n board.. they are cheap now.. why risk it..

The 406 duo has two independent channels, so yes one paraboard with your 2s on one side and another paraboard on the second channel with your 3s, the only problem I see is doing ALL of the 2s at the same time because to much spread between 8200 mah and 5000 mah. That power supply is a beast and should serve you well.

sounds good. I will be sure to charge the 8200 2s packs separately and not risk burning something up.

That charger system will be so fast you want even notice it. You will definitely stay ahead of the game with this.

Plenty of airplane folks charging packs of greater capacity difference in parallel than the OP listed. It's all about resting voltage being close together before paralleling them
