Airtronics mx sport life battery?

Airtronics mx sport life battery?
I have an airtronics mx sport that I've been thinking about converting to a life pack but not sure how to go about it or if it's even worth it. I hate having to use 8 aa batteries and to get rechargeable aa's and a charger seems more expensive over time than converting to life power. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

This radio works perfectly fine with a 3S lipo. Have been using one for a couple of years without issue.
I'm using a Turnigy 2500 from Hobbyking, part #9210000037. But anything approximately 106mm long and 14mm thick will work. The width of 50mm is more than plenty.
But I did have to change the connector from the radio to match the battery. I just took an old servo extension wire and soldered it on with some shrinkwrap.
I don't use this radio much anymore, but I love that when I do, I can just grab it and go without worrying the NiMH rechargable batteries have died. It's also noticeably lighter.
