What's wrong with the dx4c and two receivers for 99$? I got it and it does everything the other radios do except for maybe the dx3r. So why not spektrum?

Using a capacitor and plugging it in to a extra slot on the receiver?

That, and make sure the BEC on the ESC is beefy enough. 3 amps should be ok, but some lower end ESC come with 2 amp BEC and that's not enough with Savox Servos, from my experience.

Yes a Glitch Buster is a capacitor that you plug in an empty port of the receiver.

Get a used 4PL, I've seen them for $140-150. a little over your price but worth it. I don't like Spektrum for the price of the receivers, (to me every dollar counts) and they brown out if you use them with Savox servos. So every car needs the additional cost of a glitch buster. Or use a different servo. And the GT3B is just plain junk. Low resolution, buggy software and they don't have the power in the receiver to make your servos function they way they should. The same servo on that system will be slow and jittery compared to being plugged into a Futaba receiver. They also they seem to have a problem staying centered. Like for example if you turn left and let off, it will it will go past center to the right a little bit then back to center. On a monster truck its fine, but on a touring car it makes things very interesting. Its a decnet basher budget radio, but if you want something good I would not recommend it.

Want to go dirt cheap but still have a fast and excellent radio? Find a good used FM M8. Just saw one on ebay for $25.

The ESC I have is the LRP flow competition, and per their site B.E.C. 6.0V/3.0A Linear. I made sure of that before I bought the Savox.

Have one as well as a futaba Junior Magnum. I pretty much got laughed out of the building by some of the guys at my local RC shop when I showed up with it set up in my car. That's when I went out and bought the HPI TF40 just so I had something 2.4ghz. The M8 and the JM still work, and I will probably use it for bashing but I want to get something newer for racing.

I plan on using the M8 in my 2nd or 3rd car and getting rid of the JM futaba. That's the one that gets the most laughs/looks. I am currently using the HPI in my main car but I don't like the way it fits my hand so I don't want to race too much with it.

I would get a DX3R Pro used. Put a Life battery in it, run a $4 glitch buster, and your good.

A decent radio will last you 5-6 yrs, probably the last thing to skimp on price wise.

I run 4 cars with a Spektrum/Savox setups (3x 1257's, 1x 1251) and only have had to add a glitch buster to the car with the cheap Turnigy ESC, the other cars have Tekin ESC's that never had any issues with glitching.

You're lucky. Tekin/Spektrum/Savox is a known brownout cluster f. Of course it's usually only a problem when pushing motors to the edge of self destruction so not everyone is going to have a problem.

I like my mx-3x from Airtronics. Solid performer with great range, no glitching or latency issues, and it's easy to use. I liked my Futaba 3pl quite a bit until I lost it moving from NC to TX. It was a great radio; light weight but not cheap feeling, excellent range, relatively inexpensive receivers, and no technical issues to speak of. You don't need a crazy expensive or complex radio to have fun. I've had these radios collectively for about 5 years and they have been great. If I were a serious racer then I might drop the coin on a super nice radio but right now there is no need. Get the 3pl brand new from amain and have fun. They have coupons that will make it less than $100.

Yeah I run stock motors and decent Lipo's. Only time I had problems is when my Tx batteries ran below like 4.9v, car was acting all kinds of crazy.
