New Radio ??
was wanting to replace my old Futaba 3PK with a new radio. What's a good radio I don't need a top of the line radio and I only race no bashing ??? was looking at the Spektrum DX4c or the Airtronics MX-V ....

Wow, that's a toss up. They both have about the same features to them for the same price. If you have a chance, go and grab them (that's what she said ) and see which feels better in you hand.
I have heard/read that Spektrums feel cheap. I don't know how true that is, but for me switching back and forth from my Futaba and FlySky radios... my FlySky feels cheap. I'm not saying the Spektrum will feel the way my FlySky feels, as I never held a Spectrum brand.
Also if I read it right... Horizon is giving, for free, a second receiver with a purchase of a DX4C.
I hope someone out there has used both of those radios and can better tell you their thoughts.

I like the way my spektrum feels...but this should probably be discussed in the radio and electronics forum rather than the Offroad forum

I have used both and the Airtronics is a much higher quality radio. Another one to look at is the Airtronics MT-4. Is is a little more expensive but offers more features and adjustments that you will want later on. IMHO it's the best bang for the buck radio on the market.

How much is a normal receiver for Airtronics? I like running spektrum because I can get a receiver for 40 bucks. I always thought about going over to airtronics after this radio died.

I love my Airtronics, but sometimes I wonder if it would be better to have a spektrum just so I can run cheap receivers in my non-race vehicles.
If I only had two rc cars, this would be a non-issue...but I have more.
Just pains me to spend 100 bucks on a reveiver.
(the waterproof receivers are cheaper, but I have had issues with them not wanting to fit in some of the smaller radio boxes)

The low cost Airtronics RX-371 or RX-37W (371W) receivers are in the $50-60 neighborhood. They're still probably a little faster than a Spektrum system. The super fast RX-471 is around $100. For $220 the MT-4 is a very good radio. The MT-4S is right there as well for $300. They're both excellent radios.

Hitec is coming out with a new surface radio that looks very interesting. Sub-$300 price range before Tower coupon:

Neither of those two radios came close to the 3pk with a fasst module. Works perfectly with 30$ Frsky tfr4 receivers.
