Running the following combo in my Losi 8ight-E 3.0 for the last 9 months. Pretty happy so far. I'd agree that a sensored setup is not a necessity in 1/8th electric. With the 4 poles and significant weight of the buggy you don't notice the cogging the same way you may with a 2wd 1/10th scale vehicle.

Waterproofing wasn't a concern for me, though...

Thanks. Waterproof would be nice but don't think it's an absolute necessity for me.

What batteries are you running with that setup? Assuming you're racing with it?

I run the turnigy 5000mah and ecopower 4100mah batteries.both are budget friendly and perform just fine.

So far I'm only running a single one of these: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dproduct=45143

Moving forward I will be sure to pick up hardcase packs (for roar approval). This guy gets me through 10 minute mains during club races with no problems though!

If I were ordering batteries today I'd probably try SMC: http://www.smc-racing.net/index.php?...product_id=256

Well we've been running these affordable motors in our T4's for quite a bit of time now and still love them. I have the 6.5 in mine and she's a screamer. I ran the heck out of it all weekend on a loam track and although she was getting pretty warm, ran great. My kids 17.5 motors ran great as well, and also they beat them around the house alot. The only "issue" I find with these motors are the vented cans in dusty conditions. They seem to let dust and little debris into the gear cover, and then chew up the mating surfaces of the spur/pinion. Doesn't ruin them, just makes them louder than they should be. I took the motors out and taped the face of them so there is no venting open against the motor plate. Just take an exacto and cut around the belled out center of the motor. Seems to keep the debris out that I can tell and there is no problem with slipping in the motor mounts or overheating. Can't beat the price/performance of these motors, definately worth a couple strips of electrical tape. Happy motoring to you all.

The tekin 1/10 motors have nice tabs to solder too.

So how are you suppose to solder on motor like these hobbyking red cans.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...15&aff=1499693

I just loaded up a big blob of solder on the wire then put the wire along the socket holes and melted it till it stuck.

Whats the official way for this? Do you guys bend the wire to the tab? Anyone got a pic or video?

Thanks.

Just put the tip of your iron in the slot and tin the metal, then do as you did.

I actually run bullet connectors on my motor tabs, although I would still prefer a flat plate to solder to rather than the slots. But yes, just tin the metal around the slot, the wire, then solder them together like normal.

Took my 6.5 apart the other day, it was pretty dirty on the endbell part, but the rest of the internals were not bad like I thought they would be. Blew it all out with the compressor, put back together, and still running great

Sweet! These are the best motors for the price I have ever used.

Those are some sweet looking motors. Although I'd likely just keep buying the other ones as the price for the performance is why I like them so much. Just bought two 21.5's for my kiddos at $23/motor. Can't beat that! The 17.5's are to fast for six year olds since they don't have computer radios for me to limit the throttle epa. They figured out the knob for the epa in about a day just messing around.

Looks very nice! Wish I would have waited on my last motor order. Wonder if they are planning on 17.5 and 13.5 variants as well...

So for the first image I have, i can run the wire one direction with the tinned exposed wire end facing the bottom of the motor?

For the 2nd motor, I can do it both ways since its metal contact on both sides of the socket?

Or is the inner rim of the metal socket all i should care about?

Confirmation?
