Default new/old smc lipo question

I purchased 2 4300 50c shortly smc lipos from a guy that are new. I was looking at the pictures after I paid him and the date on the box says 12/30/12 are these batteries going to be ok?

Was going to respond then saw the post date. I assume you have received them by now. How did they turn out?

Basic answer is .............. it depends. What kills lipos is either over charging (+4.2 v per cell) or over discharging (-3v per cell). Lipos are generally shipped at a storage charge of approximately 3.8 v per cell but do self discharge over time. I have read that most can survive if not discharged to less than 2.7v per cell but would need to be balance charged at a low amp setting for the first few cycles.
