I picked up a cheap, used 2.4ghz Sanwa receiver recently and maybe the cheap part was too good to be true. The antenna has zero exposed surface beyond the black insulation. Oddly, it works glitchfree on my backyard oval.
Questions:
- I have a few spare 2.4ghz antennae from Hobbywing. Should I replace the old antenna with one of my new spares?
- Or can I carefully trim back the insulation on the short antenna to expose 31.5mm of non-insulated wire and have the antenna be as good as new?

If its not broke (more than it already is) then why bother?
Have you range tested it at all? 2.4 ghs gives such good range that the loss of that bit of antenna probably wont impact your ability to drive. Unless you drive from like a mile away.

Are you sure it should have exposed wire on the antenna? Not all 2.4GHz receivers appear to have that type of antenna.

Good question, well worth digging into, and the results?. I just checked a bunch of photos online of both the sanwa rx371 and the airtronics 92524, and yes, you are correct. The antenna is solid black in every image I found. You eliminated my angst. Thank you!
