I've got a GT-2B for my 4 year old's ECX. He's a bit small for his age, and his hands are certainly not above average in size, but he holds and operates it just fine. The nice small lithium battery makes the controller real light too, which I think is a huge plus for a young kid.

He also does just fine with my TQi controller when he runs my Stampede.

I'm assuming "reversing" on the GT-2B is no problem for your 4yr old then. I'll definitely check that transmitter out. The Traxxas AM radio seems too big for my kid. Having a problem reversing and have to use the other hand to reverse.

Default Remote for 3 Year Old

I have to revive this old post; any modern remotes that might fit a 3 year old girl's hands?

I'm looking for something cheaper than that. I figure once she grows, we'll go Futaba.

I got mine for $55 shipped. Figure that was pretty cheap.

Default Size of ARRMA atx300 vs stock rtr Traxxas transmitter?

Hi! Does anyone know how the ARRMA atx300 compares in size to the stock RTR Traxxas radio? The Traxxas radio is almost too large for a 5 year old. Thanks!

The ARRMA atx300 is super cheap (30-40 on ebay) and fits our needs perfectly.
  • Easily adjustable exponential on the radio (steering and throttle).
  • The trigger is a little stiff, but that actually helps greatly with a child so they don't accidentally pull it and have to actively THINK to pull the trigger.
  • 4 battery vs 6-8 for other radios
  • Light weight, yet feels like a very sturdy build
  • Very easy for their fingers to get to the throttle even at 4 years old (latches on the first bend of the trigger finger)
  • Last but not least, having a twin lefty and twin righty, in two seconds this radio converts and that ALONE was worth every penny of the radio. It is MUCH easier for my daughter to grasp the concept when using the right.... er correct (left)... hand.

Any newer recommendations? I have a 28 month old that is quite entertained by my old cars, but even my smallest radio is absolutely huge for him. He has no problem picking up and carrying either of the ones I own (DX3R Pro and M12, both of which I have spare receivers for) without dropping them, but the handles are so big that he can barely reach around them, let alone reach the throttles in any but the most awkward way. The wheels are too big to reach across, too, so he just uses one side. I see the ARRMA ATX-300 can be obtained on ebay, but I'm not sure it's quite small enough for his tiny little hands.

Carson Wheel Start has been designed for children. Not a lot of features but it seems that a better version (still with a reduced size) exists on BangGood, with LCD...
