Default Tracstar 150 amp Esc help!

I just bought a Tracstar 150a Esc from Hobbyking to put in sons buggy. I don't run alot of electric so I'm not real knowledgeable on the Esc deal. I set up the Esc to the motor like the instructions said. I ran it for a few minutes and then my pinion gear got loose and worked its way off the spur gear. I stopped and tightened up the pinion, and went to run the buggy again and all it would do is barely spin the motor. I noticed when switching on the esc it doesn't beep anymore. Is it possible that when the pinion came loose that the esc went into safe mode. Could someone give me some suggestions. I hope it's not serious. I do not have a programming card with this ESC. I have a Tacon motor. 4s 5300 mah lipo battery. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like a loose connection to the motor, check all the plugs there or if you have another motor try that
