Default Tekin RS issue?

So I pulled my ESC out the package and hooked it up with a tekin redline 17.5 and Savox servo. I use a DX3S transmitter. Lat night, I powered it on for the first time and noticed some issues. Everything was fine at first, but I was testing my steering and all of a sudden it became extremely jittery. To the point it was hard to move left and right. I thouht this only affected the steering, but checked the throttle and it was cogging/jittery as well. Not the smoothness I was getting at first. Look at the LED's on the RS and I had a strip of red lights. Power the esc off and back on again and everything was good for a few minutes and then went back to this. It appears to be intermittent, but I can recreate the issue. I programmed the ESC with hotwire and have it in locked sped more. Any suggestions what might be happening?

Is your battery fully charged and your cutoff set correctly?

Something I concidered. I hadn't charged the battery fully before testing. I was kind of assuming that the RS had a default lipo cutoff.

Check the sensor wire and make sure it is plugged in good at the motor & ESC. Antenna wire- how is it? Could be picking up interference somewhere. Check the routing.

But how would the sensor wire affect the steering?

Edit: Would a WII controller interfere with 2.4Ghz? I had it on the table next to my car. But it was not on.

Could be starving for power, replace the cap on the RS and take a shot at using a glitch buster.
