I don't know, and wouldn't try due to the possibility of damaging the ESC.

The only thing I can definitely say is that it wouldn't be ROAR-legal, if you are concerned about that.

Has anyone have any luck with downloading this software, unzipping it, opening up and then using it?

Yes. Running "TU UsbLink V1.10" as administrator on Win7. First update the program box software to 1.07 (131127_TU_BOX_V1.07.bin) if necessary. Then update the ESC to 2.02 (TU_ESC12_ONE_SELL_20140819_V2.02.bin
Roar Compliance).

That's exactly what I'm suffering, can you at least change settings with other than the Ts program box? I'm not concerned about roar legality.it's for club racing only.any help would be great.

I believe that the only way to change the settings is with the box specific to the Gen II's. Turnigy is a pain in that they have a different box for each series of esc. They only way to update the software in the esc is with a computer, the box and a internet connection. Another pain. Other than that a great esc for the price.

I am having issues opening the program. It starts, then it looks like its working then nothing. This is on two different computers with Win8. I'll try an older computer or even a Mac.

The program box must be plugged into a usb port for the software to open.

Right click the software icon and go into properties to change the compatibility to XP SP3, also check the run as administrator box

Connect the program box to the ESC data port (not the signal cable for the receiver), also the ESC should be powered by a battery either to the ESC or to the program box itself (by battery balance plug), connect the program box by USB to your PC.

Run the software

I use VMware with Win7 and it links no problem

I haven't needed a battery when connecting the ESC to the computer. The USB supplies enough power to the box and the ESC when changing settings and doing software updates.

Ok I did all was suggested and now receiving a USB connection fail message. ESC is blinking with a green light and program box is on because I can go through the menu which I am assuming the USB is providing the power.

I've just tried a few win8 and 8.1 machines with no luck and my mac wont detect any USB's using VBox.

Any other ideas?

I just did mine last night on Win 8. I right clicked the Application, changed the properties to run as administrator, and also set the compatibility mode to Win7. It started the app and failed several times. I just left it hooked up and all of a sudden, boom it connected.

You may also need to make sure you are using USB 2.0 ports rather than USB 3.0. Not sure if that helps.
