I've got several TrackStar 3.5T motors I'm willing to sell, 2 new in box @ $30 each and 1 only used once for $25... free shipping in the US, PM me if interested.

I tried the Open Mod class once and realized that class is too fast for me, ha!

vta rules state you have to use a novak. ide rather use a trackstar. much more cost effective ya know. not all clubs use the vta rules though. but it would be nice.

Can anyone suggest blinky gearing for 21.5 & 13.5?

I have a Trackstar 21.5 in at the moment and is ~6:1 FDR which has been working well in boosted, but we are adopting a national rule set in July, which means blinky for both 21.5 and 13.5. Now that these motors have ROAR approval, I'm definitely going to try the 13.5.

I ran FDR of 3.92 in blinky 13.5t on a fast flowing outdoor track. this was at night but motor was only coming off at 45 degrees celsius and had a heap of pull.

Me and my son had a awesome weekend of racing this weekend.
Went to the Scale Nationals north of Chicago at harbor hobbies in was 116 entries in 3 classes (vta, usgt, tc)
layout was tight but flowing ....but no sweeper just a strait with a hairpin then a S curve . track was 35ish x 100
Fast lap times were 9.9 in vta, 9.4 in usgt and 8.8 in tc.
my son ran the trackstar in both usgt and tc . He won the usgt trippleA main geared at 3.55 with timing between 1st&2nd notch. Also he had the new promatch 7600 /90c , a hobbywing 2.1 1s esc between them . Amazing performance all weekend . I believe there were 43 cars in usgt . In one of the heats he ran a 9.375 fast lap for the entire show with is Xray 2012.
in our tc cars we swapped motors a few times to comare to a orca Tx. And on this tight layout . The Trackstar had more grunt and brakes but the orca had more mid range and topend . Neither motor had any fade and both were geared for 170deg temps @ 6min
orca worked best for me on this layout with a FDR of 3.8 and 2mm of timing past last mark
the track star's fdr was 3.58 with timing on second mark . I was able to click off 8.9 with both motors.
I will say tho ... I bought 3 17.5s and 3 21.5 and had them all checked for isr readings and rotor strength.
they was a big difference in the 21.5 motors (6points)
and 4points in 17.5 .
the rotors were all mid 1400-1450 on the trinity igauss meter so no worries there
I might have got lucky and got the best they will or could wrap but I venture to say I just feel since less people pick thru them for pro drivers they some r able to be found in the hands of avg racers... its kinda like buying a back of ball cards back in the 90s. Lol

We've got one guy at our track running the 17.5t motor and it's pretty amazing how well it is doing, even with no timing adjustment whatsoever. Needless to say, I will be picking one of these up to try alongside my Tekin Redline Gen 2.

How are you measuring motor IR? At the moment I am testing the rotor on an Igauss meter and using a Skyrc Motor dyno to get kv and amp draw unloaded at different timing marks but it's not a perfect science, had a speed Passion V3 that looked great on the meters but was a dog on the track

Ran the 21.5 in sportsman last night, it's insanely fast, had more than a few racers checking my car, esc settings, weight etc because it seemed 'too fast' Broke the lap and race records for 21.5 in the process. Very happy with the motor especially now it's Roar legal, have the 13.5 to try now, if the 21.5 is any indication, I may need to learn to drive again!
