How do these motors handle boost/turbo?

Read through the whole thread

Very informative, so thanks for that

I have just one question. I can only find a "red can" 17.5T, is it the same as the "silver can" 17.5T mentioned in the beginning of the thread? Did they just change the color to red?

Reason I ask is in the beginning of the thread posters talk about the "red can" being lighter and having more torque

This is the link to the 17.5T turnigy trackstar motor at HK, is it the same as the original motor talked about in this thread?

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...or_2270KV.html

If its not, can someone supply me with the correct link to the motor talked about in the original post?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure they're the same motor, just a color change.

I took both a silver and a red can motor apart, and the only difference I could see is in the sensor end of the motor. It looks like the sensor board and timing ring are slightly different in the new red can. At first glance, it looks like the red can timing won't advance as far as the silver, but when you crank them both as far as they go the sensors end up in the same place. I think it's just that the markings on the outside of the red can don't line up correctly with what's going on inside.

I could only ever get my silver can to go to two ticks from full motor timing. Some local guys running the Turnigy 21.5 motors have the same situation. It won't go all the way to the end.

Default replacement bearings

Anyone know the size of the larger front bearing?, or know exactly which Reedy replacements work for replacing the larger front bearing?

(this is a silver 6.5T from earlier this year)

Wow, this is awesome. The Trackstar motors are some of the fastest motors I've run.

I had seen they had the same listing for the 13.5, 17.5 and 21.5 motors. They all said waiting on the availability deal.

I only use Trackstar motors and ESC's. Best electronics for the price hands down.
