Is it worth it to upgrade from a Futaba 3PK to the 4PL?
I recently bought a Futaba R603FS 3Ch 2.4FHz FASST Rx/Tx 3PK Module and (2) Futaba R603FS 3-Channel 2.4GHz FASST Receivers and I was wondering if I should go ahead and purchase the 4PL or would I be okay if I was to continue to use the 3PK? I am guessing I would also have to go out and buy the Futaba R2104GF Receiver too?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Well, I really like my 4PL, but you would not be able to use any FASST recievers with it, because it's not a FASST radio, it uses FHSS & S-FHSS, & FASST recievers are NOT compatible with it(& I believe the reverse is also true, a FASST TX cannot use FHSS or S-FHSS recievers, according to Futaba's website)....

i think, 4PKS is suite for you. not 4PL.
4PKS can set to use with your old R603FS too.
i have been used 3PK FM 40Mhz continue more than 4 year.
now i use Sanwa MT4, it suite for me. i like telemetry.
telemetry info help me so much on my race.

Thank you for the replies. So if I was to purchase a 4PKS I could use all FASST receivers, it would not matter as long as it is a FASST receiver? The 4PKS is $200 more, are there a lot more features on the 4PKS compared to the 4PL but it would make sense for me to buy the 4PKS considering I have 3 FASST receivers already.

I went from a 3PKS using Spektrum receivers (about the same cost as FASST) to a 4PL and I'm glad I did.
First, I never liked the drop down wheel option.
Second, the 4PL is still lighter than the 4PKS and much lighter than the 3PKS.
Third, sell the FASST receivers and use that money to buy the FHSS receivers (the regular one is $50 and the 6 channel 2106 is $35).
Fourth, I use this primarily for crawling and the 4PL has crawling mixes built in making it a no brainer. I am still using a Spektrum DX3R Pro for all my racing RCs without the drop down wheel.
The 4PKS has a faster response than the 4PL as if most people would ever notice. It has more racer friendly functions than the 4PL but not by much. The 4PL at $200 less plus the receivers are $35 to 50 each makes it a good bang for buck alternative. (I've seen the 4PL sell for around $200.)

this text from 4PKS manual
================================================== ======
Receiver
There are two types of Futaba 2.4GHz receivers for cars depending on the system differences:
C1 type and C2 type. The R603FS and 603FF are C1 type and the R614FF
supplied with the 4PKS set as standard is C2 type. For the R603FS and R603FF set RX
TYPE to "FASST-C1". For the R614FF and R604FS/FSE set RX TYPE to "FASST-C2".
================================================== ======
from that text, you can see...
4PKS support RF mode, FASST-C1 (for old type FASST receiver) and FASST-C2 (for new type FASST receiver).
you can see it's manual before decide to buy it.
