Spend a little more and get this charger so you don't have to worry about it.

If that's the situation that you're in I would say charge it ATTENDED until it gets warm. How long will depend on how much charge is in the pack when you get it. From "dead" I would say at least 45 min. on a charger like that.

It will also depend on the actual current used. My guess is 1 hr.

The meter is for rate (current) not a status of charge

Be careful that charger is for NiCad and its a NiMH battery. I am not sure the difference between the two when it comes to charging. I know my charger has a different programs for NiCad and NiMH.

So long as the OP watches it as it gets warm, its okay. The different programs on other chargers between NiCad and NiMh are for peak detection. Peak detection is a little different for NiMh vs NiCad. However, this charger offers no peak detection since its the user checking the battery temp to see if it is near its peak / full charge or not.
