Does the copy have less drag brake? Maybe I'll try one.
Angelo, something is WRONG with the v3. The amount of drag brake it has when set to zero is stunning. The 2.1 doesn't have this problem. Multiple experienced racers have felt it. What's the deal?
I put an Orca in after getting frustrated with the drag of the V3 and it was shocking how well it rolled. You guys have an issue with your firmware or something. Please fix it.

This thing looked dialed from the second I got it out of the package - very nice form factor. Raced it a couple of club weekends and it seemed to be getting quite hot in TC-mod. Probably 5 out of 8 times on the track, late in the race ran into an under-power situation with my receiver as my transmitter started alarming on "low volt receiver" and car temporarily lost drive - steering still worked so coasted to a safe spot on the track. Sat there and let it cool for about 30 seconds and was able to resume and finish the race. Swapped out receiver but it happened again. Baffled. Thought this thing would be bullet-proof.
Very sad to report TOTAL malfunction this weekend at the ROAR Nats in TC-mod. Flaked out on me in the very first practice run - using a Reedy 4.0 mod, just basically shut down about 4 minutes in (total car shutdown). Back in the pits, it comes on and stays on if I hold down the power button, and still supplies power to the receiver and servo, but nothing for the motor. It actually starts beeping after about 5 seconds. Release the power button, it turns completely back off. No dice.
In a pinch, bought the Orion Vortex Pro 160A (looks amazingly similar - could these be manufactured in the same factory for a number of resellers?!?) and it held up just fine throughout the rest of the weekend.
Now I have to start the somewhat nebulous process of warranty/repair.

Hey.
The winter is coming, and I have moved indoor again. So I am curios to hear what setup you guys are running in mod? And some of your results from testing?
I'm running a 4.5t Thunder Power, and have got a nice setup, which i will post later can't remember right now.
I have also made a small Excel document, to calculate your topspeed and final gear ration.
Could not upload it here... made a link to my dropbox instead:

Anyone have experience with custom boost slope for boosted stock class?
Is it something worth experimenting with or too complext to yield good results?

Yes mate.
Just to share my experience of the v3. It feels like it has some drag even with everything off a bit annoying as I felt off power too much weight was getting transferred forward.
But the usual 13.5 fast guys with the x12's and sp mmm's the ones who swear by the motors......
Well what can I say my Orion (the classed as at my club the smooth reliable motor not the quickest) well my new hw v3 speedo transformed their opinion's it gave me so much grunt out of the corners and I was overtaking and still winding up on the straight amazing speedo amazing motor.
I was modest with settings 25 deg motor timing,
4500-16000 at 20 deg boost, 16000 at 20 degrees turbo. Amazing my motor was only coming off at 69 degrees. Recommended to everyone

When will HW have an update to fix the weak brake issues in boosted stock on V3?
I have tried changing motors, didn't fix that, changed ESC did. Even V2.1 have better brakes

D3.5 and SP MMM in stock both do that (17.5T) Changed to Orca today and brakes are much much more effective. Boost set to 40 turbo to 25. Boost start 4000 and end 12000 turbo disengage instant and set by throttle. Max brake and reverse.
