Default Help me shop for ESCs.

Guys, while I am building my new kit, I would like to get some help choosing the right ESC.

I know I m plan to race 17.5 with not timing, but at the same time I also plan to run other classes and I would to purchase an ESC the will allow me that versatility. Someone recommended Tekin RS, however what else it out there?

How does the Viper VTS compare Verus a Tekin RS and an Orion R10 - by looking at some pictures around here I have see some of these esc.

I also read Tekin is not very good with warranties and support and repairs?
Thanks for any info you can share.

I second Tekin RS. It is very versatile and easy to program. I have one for my SC, TC, and 1/12 car. I mostly love it for its small footprint. It can fit just about anywhere in a car.

Tekin product support is top notch. The turnaround time was about a week when I sent in my RS for repair. I am much satisfied with their ESC.

If cost isn't a major concern for you, Tekin is the way to go. Have had my RS Pro for over 3 years now, and it still runs great.

You bought used and/or you didn't know what you're doing, and it's Tekin's fault?

2nd that- But if you do decide to buy Novak! Buy the Brushed, when Novak was good!!

And as far as the "Tekins are junk" guy, Harry, you hit the nail on the head!!
Every ESC has a fault or 2, but, the Tekins by far have to be the BEST all around performance and adjustments in my opinion! But what do I know, Ive only been doing this for 20 years!!

In my opinion the only two to consider are Tekin and Hobbywing. Tekin has great customer service, and the product is reliable as well as competitive with anything on the market. The Hobbywing Xtreme Stock ESC is much cheaper and offers the same performance, and I think it is a bit smoother. The reliability is as good or better than anything else you can find, but customer service is lacking in the U.S. because they do come from China. For me, both of these are so reliable that customer service is not a major factor in my decision.
