Default Airtronics modulation differences

Can someone tell me what the difference is between FHSS 2 and FHSS 3 receivers? I have an mx-3x that comes with FHSS 3 receivers but it says I can run the FHSS 2 which are cheaper. Just wondering if its slower or less secure or what.

The FHSS-2 is a touch slower or has less data throughput.
FHSS-3 is supposed to be better, & there are a couple modes hidden with in that.

I still race on FHSS-2 it is very responsive.

If you are on top of your game & every bit counts FHSS-3 is the better choice.

I have the MX-3X as well. If you switched to the FHSS-2, would you have to change your receiver setting to the FHSS-2 mode? I guess I need to visit the Airtronics site as I don't recall how to check/change modes.

FHSS-2 is a little slower response time. 99% of people wont tell the difference at all. the FHSS-3 is the fastest receivers airtronics offers. most i see get the FHSS-2 for spares or for their other vehicles. either one works just fine.

if you get a FHSS-2 for your MX-3x, all you do is bind and go. very simple. make sure its FHSS-2 or FHSS-3, no others work... there are DSSS (i think thats right, might be DHSS) and those are cheap (if they still have them) and they only work with the early M11 and MX3 sport radio.

personally, im getting/have FHSS-3 for my nitro buggy and truggy and when i get a 1/10th buggy in the winter, ill get the FHSS-2.

hope this helps.

You do have to change a setting in the radio to fhss-2. Its in the manual as to how to do it.
